Keys for the Jets to be victorious against the Kansas City Chiefs

The Jets got a huge win last Thursday night on the road against the Buffalo Bills, but they are tasked with a tough assignment this Sunday. Considering the Jets’ schedule continues to get tougher, this is one they’d really like to have. The way the New England Patriots are playing, it’s going to be tough to stay on pace for a division title. Here are the keys to victory in week 3 for the Jets.

To start off, they need to come out fast. Arrowhead stadium is a very tough place to play in Kansas City, so it is important for the Jets to take the fans out of the game early. The game plan should be to score early and often, because a close game at this stadium will not be easy. The Jets offense has been pretty productive through 2 weeks. Alex Smith is the kind of quarterback who plays well with a lead, and can control the game very well. The Jets must force him to make big plays. The Chiefs have a tough defense, but Ryan Fitzpatrick and company should be up for the task.

They also have to keep feeding Matt Forte. The offense’s preformance was a Jet fans dream. They were able to run the ball consistantly and had 3 players with over 90 yards recieving. The run and pass game feed off of each other, especially for the Jets. Forte can take a lot of pressure off of Ryan Fitzpatrick, and establishing the run game can give the Jets full control of the game. If Forte can rush for over 100 yards again, that would be huge for the Jets.

Next, they need to continue with the production from Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa. Brandon Marshall appears to be a gametime decision for Sunday, so these 2 wideouts will need to continue to flourish. We know Fitzpatrick loves to throw to Decker, and he seems to have found a new favorite weapon in Enunwa, coming off of a 92 yard game and a touchdown against the Bills. If Marshall can play, that’d be huge just to have his presence on the field, but the reality is these 2 recievers will have to step up regardless.

A huge key for this game is we need to see Revis silence the haters. It has been a rough start to the season for Darrelle Revis, who has gotten burned on a few big plays, something we are not used to seeing. The frustrations of Revis even flared to Twitter, when Revis got in a dispute with NBA shooting guard JR Smith. It seems the public eye believes Revis is washed up and old. The Jets need the future hall of famer to step up and lead a struggling secondary. Lets bring Revis Island to Kansas City.

We all know what number 5 is. I may stop explaining this soon, but it still is key to victory. Win the turnover battle. The Jets defense has not turned the ball over much this season, but they need this to start happening if they want to win some ball games. The defensive line has been impressive, but the secondary has struggled. Alex Smith is a quarterback who does not turn the ball over much, but the Jets need to force him to make mistakes. Even so, the offense needs to continue to limit turnovers, in order to be productive. Winning the turnover battle on the road in Kansas City is a must.

Keys to a victory

  1. Take the fans out of the game early, and force Alex Smith to make big plays
  2. Keep Matt Forte going
  3. Continued production from Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa
  4. The return of Revis Island
  5. Win the turnover battle

In football, every game is big. This game for the Jets is as big of a week 3 game as it gets for them. They are 1-1, but dont want to fall to 1-2 with the next slate of games not getting easier. The Kansas City Chiefs are beatable, and we’ll have to see if their star running back Jamaal Charles plays. Arrowhead Stadium is a tough place to play, but the Jets are capable of pulling out the win.
